Autobiography in Five Short Chapters

I.

I walk down the street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I fall in.

I am lost...I am helpless.

It isn't my fault.

It takes forever to find a way out.

II.

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I pretend I don't see it.

I fall in again.

I can't believe I am in the same place.

It isn't my fault.

It still take a long time to get out.

III.

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I see it is there.

I still fall in...it's a habit.

I know where I am.

It is my fault.

I get out immediately.

IV.

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I walk around it.

V.

I walk down another street.

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will guide thee with mine eye."  Psalm 37:23

Hello all.  Just thought I would write a quick note to say hi...and to make sure you all get to look at our lovely wedding photos (I mean if you want to...)  First off you will need to create an account at winkflash.com...it is quick and easy.  Once you have done that, you can click on the View Friends option.  Our userID is mattandjessie and the album password is hinkel.  There are wedding photos taken by the wonderful Quinn...photos taken by other guests...and engagement photos....so knock yourselfs out kids!

So I did it...I finished sending out the wedding invitations...including a special one to Don Hickey...it included a note that said:

Dr. Hickey-  My future husband and I met in your US History class during our shopomore years, now...2 1/2 years later...we are getting married!  We do not want you to feel obligated to come, but, after all, you are the reason we met.  Jessie and Matt

And now today I get an email message from Don Hickey himself at our RSVP address (mattandjessie@hotmail.com for those of you who are not yet on the ball...only 29 days...)  It said:

Dear Jessie and Matt:

That's a great story.  It might be the best thing to come out of any of my
classes over the years.  My wife and I both thought it was a hoot.  (My wife
just reminded me that we met in one of my classes.  So maybe your meeting was only the second best thing, at least from my perspective.)

Best wishes and good luck in your new life together.

We will on a WSC tour of the Oregon Trail with teachers at the time.

Cheers--Prof. Don Hickey

Neat, huh?!?  Well I hope you all have a great 4th of July weekend!  Remember to wear plenty of sunscreen...ya know they have SPF 75!

Hope is not what you expect; it is what you would never dream.  It is a wild, improbable tale with a pinch-me-I'm-dreaming ending.

Hope is not a granted wish or a favor performed; no, it is far greater than that.  It is a zany, unpredictable dependence on a God who loves to surprise us out of our socks and be there in the flesh to see our reaction.

Okay...so the one time thing that I was going to do was the real plan....but then the neatest thing happened and so I have decided to write again so that I can share it....
I went to a Cher concert!  Wow...it was awesome!  Matt took me on Monday night for my graduation present...I was not sure about it at first, but I loved it!  She is an amazing performer...the whole thing was a huge circus.  And the opening act....the Village People...ha!  Great times.
And I would also like to add that in 100 days I will be getting married!
